Cookie Cutter Christmas Teddy Bear

Do you or a family member have a beloved teddy bear?

I had a very dear teddy bear that I buckled into the seat of my first car on the way to my first day at college 4+hrs from home back in 1988.  He was a very fluffy and cuddly teddy bear that I often used as a pillow because he was that soft and large. He had to be washed often so that any allergens were controlled.  After thirty years he could no longer hold up to frequent allergy control laundering and I had to say goodbye.  He will always be missed.

This teddy bear from the Cookie Cutter Christmas Bundle really reminds me of my old bear.

I was pleased when I stamped the image & achieved the fluffy, furry look my old teddy bear displayed in his great life. This effect occurred because I did not condition the stamp (usually done with an eraser) and I used a very inky Crumb Cake ink pad (which can cause pooling on bold or solid image stamps-especially photopolymer).  It is the exact look I wanted for this bear.

If you want a clear solid image, condition your stamp and do not use an over-inked pad.  If you want this furry bear look and have already conditioned your stamp and your ink pad moisture content is perfect, try inking your stamp and lightly tapping a cotton ball direct to the inked image before stamping.  It takes practice, but can give a nice furry texture to solid image stamps.

Did you know that here in the USA we have a National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work/School Day? It is celebrated annually on the second Wednesday of October.  This year that is Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

I have a 7 year-old shih-tzu who would happily drag her teddy bear by the ear to work or school if she had to to go to either of those places, but perhaps you & those you know are not so bold to take your favorite cuddly friend to work or school on this day.  Poor thing might pick up germs or get lost after all.

How else can we celebrate this day?  By sending a teddy bear card tucked away in a child or other loved one’s bag, purse, briefcase or lunch sac.  It might just be the thing that brightens their day.

So, if you have this bundle or another teddy bear stamp in your stash, why not create a cute card and celebrate this holiday?!

Until next time…
