If you have never tried the Black Magic technique, then perhaps now is the time to try. The results are very nice and pretty simple to achieve.
The floral image shown in the card above is from the Sale-A-Bration set Amazing You.
Black Magic Technique:
- Start with Basic Black cardstock and White Craft Ink.
- Stamp your chosen image and allow the craft ink to dry.
- Any area which will be colored needs to have craft ink. The floral I selected was open (not a solid silhouette) and therefore needed to have white craft ink applied with a dauber to any areas which were not already white (this flower’s center). Apply a light coat of White Craft Ink with the dauber and you can still see the details to color. Wait for this to dry completely.
- color over the white areas with colored pencils. The color will lie on top of the white craft ink providing the pop of color on the Black cardstock.
Just another sample of the same stamp and technique:
Above you can see I allowed a little of the White Craft Ink to show through the center of the flower. Choosing to color over the white completely or allowing it to show a bit is up to your preference when coloring.
I hope you give the Black Magic Technique a try or revisit it if it has been a while. You’ll find some beautiful examples of this old technique just by looking around. Be inspired and create beautiful things!
This weekend I will be participating in a new blog hop. I hope you pop by to check out the projects. I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with myself!
Until next time…
