Stampin’ Up! Occasions 2017 Preorder

My Stampin’ Up! Occasions 2017 Preorder has arrived!  Woo-hoo!

Now, if only I had the energy to do a lot of fun things with it.  I’m still not feeling well.  I’m happy to have all these pretty things arrive, but now I want to play and my current health status still isn’t being very cooperative.  Oh, readers…If you have good health, appreciate it!

Just bringing the box in the house required a little rest after. But a few hours later and I was able to check in my goodies and snap a photo: Look at those new products!

Just a few things you may see: Dragonfly Dreams bundle, High Tide stamps, Beautiful You stamps, watercolor pencils, and some Sale-a-Bration Items: Hey Chick stamps, Tasty Truck Stamps, and Carried Away Designer Series Paper.

Yes, I am very fond of the new Occasions catalog.  I hope once you see it and some of the products in person, that you too will find it to be a great little mini catalog which supplements the Spring season and Annual catalog nicely.

Look at these Sprinkles from the Occasions 2017 catalog:

I had to put some in the lid so that you could really see the pearls, colors, and shapes of these cute embellishments.  They are SO perfect for shaker cards.  And I am really excited to see the mini & super mini pearls (Did you notice them?) in the mix!

My absolute favorite thing in the 2017 Occasions catalog is the return of colored pencils to our product line.  Oh, how much fun these are and all the techniques which can be done with them.  At $16.00, I highly recommend you put these at the top of your wish list and request a watercolor pencil product based class from your demonstrator so that you learn how to use them with all the great sets in the Annual, Occasions, and Sale-A-Bration catalogs.  You’ll find how easy they are to use and I’d be surprised if you don’t fall in love with them too!

Since my health has kept me from visiting with many friends and customers over the past month, I’m hoping to get card samples which showcase the watercolor pencils and at least one of the bundled products (probably dragonfly dreams) in the mail  with the new catalogs to my current customers between now and the launch of the Occasions 2017 catalog, January 4, 2017.

Do you need a demonstrator?  It is always best to choose one near you so that you can attend events or hold workshops.  If you are near 15801 in Pennsylvania, I’m happy to help you with all your stamp & creativity needs. Contact me if you need a catalog or help with anything special.  You can always shop online with me by CLICKING HERE.

I am still holding my HAPPY HOLIDAYS Drawing!  Every $25.00 spent (before tax/shipping) with me as your demonstrator between November 20th & December 31st will earn a ticket/entry into a drawing for a basket (ok, it is really a cardboard box) of Stampin’ Up! items from my stash. All brand new products. *Note: This is my personal promotion/contest to celebrate the holidays. Someone is guaranteed to win a new Hostess set & Ink pad, and perhaps more if many orders are placed. Check out the original post on the Happy Holidays Drawing HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Until next time…

Joyful Christmas Card with Father Christmas Stamp Set

If you have a few more Christmas cards to make before you’re done, this Joyful Christmas card might be the card to finish off your list.

The focus of this Joyful Christmas card is the wreath made with the Father Christmas Stamp Set and the background embossed card stock with the Dynamic Cable Knit Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

joyful-christmas-2016

After some basic stamping and coloring with markers, the images are finished in no time. The Layering Ovals and Banners for Christmas and matching dies complete the card front by providing a focal point and even more dimension to please the eye.

joyful-christmas-with-gifts-2016

Add the bag of gifts from the Father Christmas stamp set if you have a little more time to color and then hand cut.  For an added touch, which unfortunately is hard to capture on camera without an extreme close-up, use Wink of Stella on the gift bag and berries of the wreath to add some sparkle.

Texture. Dimension. Sparkle.  And it won’t cost extra postage to mail!

Happy crafting!

Until next time…

Now YOU have the opportunity to purchase Stitched Shapes Framelits ahead of their official release in the 2017-2018 annual catalog!  So, they will be around for some time.  Yippee!

In addition, Stampin’ Up! has gone through the current sets in both the holiday and annual catalogs and chose some stamp sets which they felt would fit and highlight these stamps nicely and marked these coordinating stamps sets  25% off for November 2016.

How exciting!

And there’s more great news…although the 25% off stamps sets ends November 30, you will still be able to get the Stitched Shapes Framelits after that date.

How to make guilt free Candy Apples

It is Autumn, which means it is time to make things with apples!

Apple pie, apple sauce, apple butter, apple crisp, apple dumplings, apple cider, & candy apples. Here in Pennsylvania it is that time of year when making things with apples is at its peak. Biglerville, PA even holds the National Apple Harvest Festival and is finishing its two weekend run this weekend. While I haven’t been there for years, I have many fond memories from this festival from my childhood. At the festival you could make your way thru a multitude of stalls with apple-centric crafts and eat your way thru the experience with any of the above (and then some) apple-y treats. As a young girl I would never leave the festival without some type of candied apple on a stick. Yum! For this reason, I decided to make the following card to send to a family member who would get a good laugh at the memories conjured up by this autumn greeting.

su-jar-of-haunts-candy-apples-punch-art-card

The best part is that these apples can be enjoyed without the guilt of the calories that comes with the real thing.  Although, I think pairing these with a homemade apple treat might be nice, don’t you?

If you’d like to make this card, or just the punch art apples, read on for the details.

Instructions:

  • The Card Layers include a Soft Suede card stock (CS) base, Early Espresso layer and Early Espresso striped DSP layer (from the Neutrals DSP Stack).
  • Since chocolate drizzle seemed the most appealing, I went with Early Espresso Ink to stamp the image from Jar of Haunts onto a 1 3/4” punch circle in both Cherry Cobbler & Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • Then I used the same color to color in the stamped image.
  • The circle was then also punched using the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch’s largest circle(s) which is located close to the punch edge and allow for the 1 3/4” punched circle to be inserted so that a portion can be punched to form the ‘bump’ you may find on each apple.
  • A 2”x5/8” strip of Crumb Cake CS was inserted into the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch leg in order to get the rounded Popsicle stick look.
  • The 1/2” x 4” Soft Suede inked & embossed Brick Wall strip was made by inking the embossing folder before running thru the Big Shot machine.
  • Layered oval framelits with “sweet treats” sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set were stamped in Early Espresso Ink.
  • Whisper White Twine bows were added on each stick.
  • To finish it off, I added a glossy look to the chocolate drizzle by adding glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen to the entire chocolate drizzle area.

*Note: These will need to dry for about 24hrs, so make sure you have the space to leave them untouched for the glue to dry and take on that shiny appearance.

I set my stamp pad down on my first green apple while the glue was still sticky and didn’t notice it right away.  Once discovered, I was able to clean the glue off the ink pad, but I had to remake the apple. I got a good laugh since this triggered a memory of a time I was eating a candy apple and it slipped off the stick after only a few bites, creating a similar sticky situation & subsequent cleaning.  Isn’t it interesting how things can  bring back memories?   I hope this card brings back some good, and fun times for the recipient.

I hope you have a go at making some of these no-calorie, guilt free candy apples.

If you need any of the wonderful Stampin’ Up! products to make this or any other item, I’d love to be your demonstrator. You can shop with me by clicking HERE. Any order before October, 28, 2016 using hostess code: Q6HTERV3 will include a handmade card sample (my choice) sent directly from me as a thank you.

Until next time…

Paper Pumpkin Special Deal & September’s Kit

Have you heard of the monthly subscription program Stampin’ Up! has called Paper Pumpkin?

Subscribers get a box each month they subscribe which includes a project kit including stamps, paper, ink, and usually some embellishments. (Scroll down to see some cute samples from the September 2016 Paper Pumpkin) This kit provides an easy way to be creative with stamps.  Even when you are all done making the projects in the kit you always have a photopolymer stamp set and ink to keep creating on your own.  Often you have leftover other supplies too.

If you have considered signing up for Paper Pumpkin, but have never subscribed,  now is a great time to take that leap. New subscribers are in for a special deal now thru October 10, 2016.  Buy One Month, Get One Free!

What a great time to try it out for yourself.

Or…Perhaps, as a new subscriber you wish to get these two months & store them away for Christmas presents. Getting 2 for 1 is quite a deal!

So, have you decided to take the plunge and get TWO months for the price of ONE? Double check that you selected Joanne Hodge as your demonstrator and I’ll even send you a card in the mail for joining Paper Pumpkin. That will be twice in October you get something other than bills in your mailbox and once in November. How fun is that?!

Still not sure? Check out the FAQ & Details Here.

Some Cute September 2016 Paper Pumpkin Samples

In Case you just stopped by to see some cute Paper Pumpkin projects, I’ve got that. Or do you just want to see what you might be able to make with a kit?

September’s Paper Pumpkin was just fabulous for mini treats and gifts to give to people for Halloween. There were 16 test tubes included in September’s box. I completed 5 of the test tube projects by stamping and assembling exactly as shown in the directions, then adding 10 jelly beans to each tube before adding the cork stopper.  How cute are these finished projects?  I just think they are adorable & easy gifts. If you made them all you’d have 16.  I chose to keep some of the test tubes for alternate gifts because I don’t get a lot of trick-or-treaters.  su-paper-pumpkin-sept-2016-test-tubes

As if the test tube projects weren’t enough, I decided to take some of the extra materials I had left and created mini matchbook candy holders.

matchbook-template

Even if I made all 16 test tube projects for Halloween, I would have had leftovers.  I love that there are always extras to play with!

I created my matchbook template specifically for the size of the sentiment die cuts which were provided in the Paper Pumpkin kit.

I added Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, & Wisteria Wonder card stock from my stash to complete these.

  • Each Matchbook Needs a piece of CS measuring 2″ x 5.75″
  • Score the CS @ 2.5″, 2.75″, & 5.25″, then fold on score lines
  • Adhere stamped die cuts from the Paper Pumpkin kit
  • Staple a piece of wrapped candy at the base of the matchbook, catching the twist of the wrap, but not damaging the candy. *TIP: I used fairly flat hard candies with the two-ended twist and caught 1 end in the staple allowing the candy to lie flat so the top flap of the matchbook would lie flat.

su-paper-pumpkin-sept-2016-matchbook-alternative-samples

Making a whole basket of these was a very quick task.  Now I have plenty of treats to hand out in October to friends & customers.

Plus, I still have stamps, ink, and more die cuts to make additional projects. By adding some more card stock from my personal stash and I made a quick scrapbook layout. I just used the sunflower center stamp in the Paper Pumpkin kit in various colors to make my background paper.  This layout could be done in any color.  I have some photos in mind, so I choose Soft Suede, Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, and Rich Razzleberry to go with the colors in my photos. I’ll be handwriting or stamping a title and including the date on the bottom right banner.

paper-pumpkin-sept-2016-alt-scrapbook-page

As you can see, you don’t need to use the kit as intended and can continue to use your Paper Pumpkin stamps and inks by adding additional card stock and other supplies.

Are you wondering what I am doing with the other test tubes?

I have plans to create some stocking-stuffer gifts with the test tubes I didn’t use.  Some things I thought might fit:

  • rolled up money
  • bath salts
  • chapstick
  • Instant drink mix (cocoa, coffee, spiced tea)
  • peppercorns or sea salt for the cook
  • cookie sprinkles for Christmas cookie time.

So many ideas,  I wanted refill kits.  Paper Pumpkin subscribers get the added benefit of getting refill kits when available. Refill kits include all the materials to make the projects, but not the ink spot or stamps in the original mailing and usually run around $8.00 US.

With many holidays coming soon, I’ll bet we’ll see something related to the Seasons, Christmas or New Year’s in a Paper Pumpkin box soon.

What do you think next month’s Paper Pumpkin will be? I’ll be waiting to find out.

Will you be getting one?  There’s still time to become a new subscriber and take advantage of the Buy one Get one offer until October 10, 2016 or subscribe again.

Until next time…
